Dust control is a critical component of safe and efficient mining operations. Conventional methods, particularly the use of water, are widely applied but often prove ineffective due to rapid evaporation, frequent reapplication requirements, and limited ability to bind fine particles. These challenges can lead to reduced visibility, increased health risks, higher maintenance demands, and inefficient water usage(Solutions, 2026a).
As an alternative, polymer-based products effectively absorb and bind dust, creating long-lasting dust control from the first use. It is in this light that Terafil technologies intend to resolve this issue by proposing several technologies as described in the later paragraphs.
Designed specifically for the conditions of the mining and resource sectors, TeraHaul Pro is designed to be applied using existing site water trucks, tankers, or sprinklers. Mixed with water, TeraHaul Pro is sprayed onto road surfaces binding fine dust particles and preventing them from becoming airborne dust (TeraFil-dustcontrol,2026).
More to that, TeraCharge Flow UG is another technology that super-activates water to overcome the hydrophobic behavior of particles causing the water to immediately coat airborne particles, forcing them to drop out of suspension in the air. Injected into existing spray systems, Flow UG saturates the coal face and intercepts fine particles immobilizing fugitive dust. Importantly, the solution does not alter the burning properties of coal or quality of your products, by targeting and mitigating only dust.
Another interesting technology, Haul-Loc, is a liquid polymer added to water trucks that greatly improves dust control on haul roads, reducing water use, enhancing safety, and minimizing environmental impact. This technology improves water efficiency up to five times while significantly reducing overall water consumption and eliminating dust-related visibility hazards. Beyond being biodegradable, it is sustainable, and safe for both workers and the surrounding environment (Solutions, 2026b).
In addition, Terafil provides polymer-based solutions like GRT Wet-Loc which provides longer-lasting dust control than water by binding dust particles and reducing the need for frequent reapplication. It works on various surfaces, remains effective for up to 12 months, requires fewer treatments, and allows immediate use after application, saving time and costs (EamonChaseInc,2024).
To list the last, Terafil also provides Wet-Loc which is an advanced, eco-friendly synthetic dust control solution that binds dust particles to prevent them from becoming airborne, delivering durable performance for at least 6 months even in high-traffic areas.
It can be applied with standard water trucks, works without evaporation or freezing issues, and is immediately ready for use in demanding environments.
Terafil’s polymer-based dust suppression technologies represent a practical and effective alternative to traditional water-based methods. By delivering longer-lasting dust control, improving resource efficiency, and enhancing operational safety, these solutions support more sustainable and productive mining operations when applied under appropriate site conditions.
