Delays in rock blasting are crucial for optimizing fragmentation and minimizing damage.

By controlling the timing between detonations, delays reduce stress wave interactions that can lead to larger fragment sizes.

Longer delays allow for better crack propagation and improved fragmentation quality, resulting in finer rock particles.

Studies indicate that using electronic detonators with precise delay times significantly enhances blasting efficiency and reduces unwanted vibrations[1][2][3][4].
