Ore skips, a core component of mining operations, are large containers designed for transporting valuable minerals from underground mine workings to the surface(Werkman Engineering – Mining Skip, n.d.).
The imbalance in the hoisting system consists of the extended hoist rope weight and the payload in the lower skip. The skip weight itself is predominately raised by the weight of the upper skip as it is lowered down the shaft gravity’s reward.
Mine skips for transportation of ore in the vertical pits with single and double rope hoisting machines, counter-weights, conductors for skips and appropriate suspension gears(Mine Skips, n.d.).
