LaseCAU-ML
Collision avoidance for continuous ship loading and unloading with vertical beams – Keep your Pit to Port flow moving by protecting the port bottleneck.
Problem:
In continuous bulk cargo operations, collisions between the unloader or loader vertical beam and vessel hatch covers can occur. The result is damage, delays, and downtime that ripple back through the entire Pit to Port chain.
Solution:
LaseCAU ML is a sensor based safety system designed to prevent collisions between vertical crane beams and vessel hatch covers during bulk cargo loading and unloading. It was developed for ship unloaders and loaders with vertical beams in continuous processes.
How it works:
• Four high resolution 3D multi layer laser scanners monitor the working area around the beam.
• The system detects hatch edges and covers, including folded and sliding hatch types.
• Clearances are dynamically calculated in real time.
• Early intervention is enabled through alarms, controlled slow down, or emergency stop.
• Adjustable parameters allow operators to define clearance tolerances and safety thresholds.
• Built in diagnostics and scanner obstruction monitoring support high availability and safe operation.
Key features:
• Detection of hatch edges and rims in the operation zone
• Measurement of the clearance between hatch cover and crane beam
• Recognition of folded hatch covers on applicable vessel types
• Parameter configuration interface for adjustable clearance tolerances
• Vertical Z axis collision avoidance for safe elevation control
• Scanner obstruction monitoring with immediate alert function
