Drilling machines have become indispensable tools across a wide range of industries—from manufacturing and construction to DIY home improvement projects. These powerful machines simplify tasks that were once labor-intensive and time-consuming. However, prioritizing safety is essential to prevent accidents and injuries. This blog post will outline key safety precautions to follow for the safe and efficient operation of a drilling machine(admin, 2023).
All operators and maintenance personnel who are preparing to operate and maintain drilling rigs must read and understand the precautions and be able to identify various situations.
Before repairing the drilling rig, first close the main air inlet pipe and empty the air path.
Check and ensure that all nuts and screen are not loose, all hoses are connected reliably and pay attention to protecting the hoses to prevent them from being torn off.
Keep the workplace clean to prevent collapse. Moreso, keep hands, arms, and eyes away from moving parts to avoid accidental injuries since moving parts can cause serious personal injuries.
Ensure that the drilling rig is well lubricated and repaired in time. Pay attention to the oil level and position during work. Before maintaining the oil mist, be sure to close the main air valve and release the compressed air on the pipeline.
Carefully adjust the drilling rig during work to avoid undesirable damages.
When the drilling rig is out of use, turn off the battery switch first, then use wind to blow away the dust on the surface and place it in a safe area to prevent damage to the machine parts(Safety Precautions for Drilling Rigs-HJi Drilling, n.d.).
Operating a drill rig requires not just skill, but constant vigilance. What’s one key piece of advice you would give to a new operator to ensure they prioritize safety above all else?
