Drying equipment in the mining industry is essential for efficiently removing moisture from ores and minerals, improving processing performance and transportability. These machines are designed to operate reliably under harsh conditions, maximizing energy efficiency while preserving material quality.
Rotary Dryers
They are also known as drum dryers, these are the most prevalent drying equipment in mining. They consist of a slightly inclined rotating cylinder through which mineral material is fed. Hot air passes through to evaporate moisture as the material tumbles inside the drum. Rotary dryers handle large capacities and are suitable for drying powders, lumps, and granular materials such as ores, coal slime, slag, and clay. Flash Dryers (Air-Swept Tubular Dryers)
They utilize hot air passing through a long cylindrical chamber along with mechanical agitators to quickly disperse and dry minerals in a high-shear environment. They are well-suited for drying powders, slurries, and granules like bauxite, limestone, gypsum, and various ores(“Minerals,” n.d.).
Conveyor Dryers
Mineral material passes on a conveyor belt through a heated chamber for drying. These are used for continuous drying of certain mineral powders and slurries(Industrial Mining Equipment | Dryers, Conveyors, Screeners, n.d.).
Fluidized Bed Dryers
Material is suspended and dried in a hot airflow, offering excellent heat transfer and uniform drying, commonly used for fine and granular materials.
