What equipment is used in remote mucking?

Remote mucking relies mainly on remote-controlled Load-Haul-Dump (LHD) machines, like the ZWY Series Crawler Mucking Loader. These are built for confined spaces and feature crawler belts for mobility, bucket and scraper conveyors for rock handling, and backhoe arms for reaching and clearing blasted rock from a distance([Hot Item] 160 Cubic M/H High Productivity Mucking Loader with Remote Control, n.d.).

Other notable equipment includes Sandvik’s AutoMine® Tele-Remote loaders and drills, which combine remote operation with semi-autonomous control systems to allow operators to manage machines from protected control rooms while maintaining high productivity and safety underground(AutoMine® Tele-Remote, n.d.).

Scooptram Radio Remote Control (RRC) loaders are also widely used for line-of-sight remote mucking operations, enabling manual control with video assistance to maximize safety while maintaining operational flexibility(Scooptram Radio Remote Control | Line-of-Sight Loader Operations | Epiroc, n.d.).

In some cases, remote-controlled demolition robots and ancillary machines are deployed in utility tasks related to mucking, such as shaft revitalization or tunneling repairs, reducing personnel exposure to hazardous environments(Hcrot.Com/Case-01, n.d.).

With LHDs being retrofitted for remote operation, what is the fastest-wearing component—tires, bucket, or the complex onboard sensing suite—and how does remote operation change your maintenance schedule?
