meccha chameleon is a multiplayer hide-and-seek game that gives the traditional concept a creative twist: instead of simply finding a hiding place, players can paint themselves to blend into their surroundings. The game combines camouflage, stealth, observation, and fast-paced multiplayer action, creating a tense experience in which both hiding and searching require strategy. According to the game’s website, it features two main modes and supports different roles for players.
The central gameplay revolves around two roles: Chameleons, who must hide from the hunters, and Hunters, who must locate and tag the hidden players. As a Chameleon, players first examine their surroundings and choose a color that matches nearby walls, floors, or objects. They then position themselves carefully and remain as still as possible so their character blends into the environment.
Camouflage is therefore one of the most important mechanics. Simply choosing a hiding spot is not enough. Players need to consider their color, body position, silhouette, lighting, and the surrounding scenery. Busy walls, colorful surfaces, shadows, and areas filled with objects can provide useful places to disguise themselves. Remaining still is equally important because sudden movement can reveal an otherwise convincing disguise.
Hunters have the opposite objective. They must carefully inspect the environment and identify objects or shapes that appear unusual. Instead of blindly shooting, successful Hunters look for subtle clues such as unexpected movement, colors that do not quite match, or shapes that seem out of place. Once they believe they have identified a hidden Chameleon, they can use their paintball weapon to tag the target.
The game includes Normal Mode, which is designed for eight players. Players are assigned roles as either Hunters or Chameleons, and the Chameleons must survive until the timer ends while the Hunters attempt to find them. A caught Hider is eliminated from active play and becomes a spectator for the remainder of the round.
Another mode is Infected Mode, which increases the match size to twelve players and changes the objective. Hunters use paintballs to tag Hiders, but tagged Hiders are recruited into the Hunter team rather than simply being eliminated. This creates a constantly changing battle in which the number of Hunters can grow as the round progresses.
