Imagine a world without light… An underground mine is the place where ores found in the deepest parts of the Earth’s crust are extracted. At the beginning of a working day, the miners are well-equipped with PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and the working tools required to perform their tasks safely.
Here, the daily tasks generally consist of blasting or mechanical breaking (in the case of soft rocks like coal), recovering the ore, and transporting this ore to the surface for further processing. As a matter of fact, the working environment is quite tough.
Most often, there is little light, and the miners are exposed to risks such as slope failure. Underground mining is a highly passionate activity. It reveals the wonderful nature of the Earth and the riches within.
Being an underground miner requires stamina, courage, and most importantly, psychological strength.
It is hard to describe what it is like to work in a mine; to understand, one has to live and work inside the mine. We’ve gotten used to it(AA, 2018).
