It would be interesting to see a picture of the muck pile after the dust has settled. At first glance, seems the blasting bench was quite narrow, which represents a challenge in terms of designing a timing pattern. To my eye it seems the timing was designed so to move the blast forward, instead of diagonally, what could reduce the rock fly by creating a free face towards which the energy could flow, away from the main bench face.
Additionally, would be interesting to know what king of detonation systems was utilized, electronic or pyrothecnic initiators, the first have a much wider range of available timing, which can help reducing rock fly.
