Mining is ultimately about people, not just profit. True success in the industry relies on ethical leadership, community partnerships, and a commitment to social and environmental responsibility. By focusing on long-term shared value and inclusive growth, mining can positively impact lives, livelihoods, and local development(Leonida, 2022).
“I’ve had the privilege of growing from a management trainee to executive roles with some of the world’s leading companies a testament to the diversity mining offers. One achievement I’m proud of is helping pioneer the recruitment of female haul truck drivers in Ghana, a move that has since spread across West Africa. Mining has given me a lot, and I’m proud to have given back. What continues to inspire me is the opportunity to make a real, lasting impact on people and communities” said Joshua Mortoti, exclusively for Gold Network(Network, 2025).
