Pression de détonation vs. Pression d'explosion

La pression de détonation fait référence à l’immense pression générée dans la zone de choc devant la zone de réaction lors d’une détonation explosive, généralement mesurée en kilobars. Cette pression énorme est libérée presque instantanément lorsque l’explosif se détonne, produisant une onde de choc qui ne dure qu’un bref instant à un endroit donné.

La capacité d’un explosif à briser des matériaux, plutôt que de simplement les déplacer, est attribuée à cette augmentation soudaine de pression, communément appelée brisance. La brisance d’un explosif est principalement déterminée par la rapidité avec laquelle il libère des produits gazeux.

Plusieurs facteurs influencent la pression de détonation, y compris la densité de l’explosif, la vitesse de détonation et la vitesse des particules. Pour les explosifs condensés, la vitesse des particules est d’environ un quart de la vitesse de détonation. Voici une approximation de la relation entre ces facteurs:

P = 2.5 ρ. V2×10-6

Avec P = pression de détonation (kilobars), ρ = densité (g/cm3), V = vitesse (m/s).

L’importance de la pression de détonation réside dans son effet sur les niveaux de contrainte dans le matériau sous-jacent, ce qui peut influencer de manière significative la fragmentation. Pour un amorçage efficace et fiable, la pression de détonation de l’amorce doit dépasser celle de la charge explosive primaire.

La pression d’explosion, qui est distincte de la pression de détonation, fait référence à la pression qui reste après que l’expansion adiabatique soit revenue au volume initial de l’explosif. Théoriquement, la pression de détonation représente environ 45 % de la pression d’explosion. L’étendue à laquelle l’explosif remplit les perforations joue un rôle crucial dans la détermination de la pression d’explosion effective lors du tir.
