The Santa Luz Project is an open-pit gold mine located in Bahia State, Brazil. It is owned and operated by the Canadian mining company Equinox Gold.
It has an initial mine life of 9.5 years. In 2025, it produced 125,000 – 145,000 oz gold at a cost of $1,845 – $1,945 per oz AISC. There are estimated reserves of 1,075 Koz @ 1.34 g/t gold (“Bahia Complex,” n.d.).
The RIL circuit is operating as planned and recovery rates are higher than achieved with the historical carbon-in-leach circuit. Challenges remain, however, and the Company continues to focus on implementing process improvements to optimize recoveries. Recoveries have been improving and are expected to achieve recoveries of 73% or more for the second half of 2024.
